The SENSYS MagDrone R3 is an ultra-portable drone-mounted magnetometer survey kit designed to deliver high-precision magnetic mapping from the air. With dual 3-axis fluxgate sensors, internal GPS, datalogger and lithium-ion power pack, the MagDrone R3 is optimized for UAV platforms with a minimum payload of just 1 kg.
Whether you’re conducting UXO detection, buried-infrastructure mapping, archaeological surveys or hidden-mineral exploration, the MagDrone R3 enables rapid area coverage while maintaining sensor sensitivity. The 200 Hz (or more) sampling rate allows mounting close to drone motors and landing gear while still filtering out interference from the aircraft.
Compact, rugged and ready for flight, the MagDrone R3 delivers reliable magnetic data outputs in challenging environments—from flood zones to mine sites—by simply mounting the sensor bar onto the UAV frame and initiating recording.

SENSYS MagDrone R3 FAQ
You’ll need a UAV capable of carrying at least 1 kg of payload. The MagDrone R3 is designed to operate on small- to mid-size survey drones, offering extended flight time and minimal aircraft interference thanks to its compact design.
The MagDrone R3 has been used at extremely low altitudes—just tens of centimetres above surface—when surveying for compact ferrous objects such as grenades or buried casings. It’s optimized for minimal clearance thanks to its 200 Hz+ sampling and dual-sensor configuration.
The kit supports the MagDrone DataTool, which allows you to download, preview, filter and export raw data. Further analysis can be done using software such as MAGNETO®, GIS tools or MATLAB for custom processing.
