Drone as First Responder (DFR) FAQ

  • Operational Goal: define whether your DFR mission is urban response, perimeter monitoring, or search and rescue.
  • Jurisdiction Approvals: confirm BVLOS authorization and compliance with Transport Canada guidelines.
  • Coverage Planning: determine number of docks and overlapping flight zones.
  • Connectivity & Command Infrastructure: ensure adequate 5G or LTE coverage and secure network links.
  • Training & Staffing: identify RPAS pilots and command officers for onboarding.
  • Public Transparency: establish communication plans to inform residents of drone use and privacy measures.

A DFR program allows police or emergency-response agencies to deploy autonomous drones from fixed docking stations (like the DJI Dock 3 or Hextronics Dock) to a call before officers arrive. The drone provides live video and thermal data to dispatchers, giving instant situational awareness and reducing response times.

We currently deploy theDJI Dock 3 for the Matrice 4D/4TD series, and Hextronics Docks, which can integrate with both DJI and Parrot Anafi UKR platforms. Each system supports autonomous battery exchange, remote monitoring, and environmental protection for 24/7 operation.

We begin with a consultation and presentation to your RPAS and command staff, followed by alive demo of docked-drone operations. From there, we provide proof-of-concept deployment,Transport Canada BVLOS guidance, and complete integration, training, and technical support.
